Abstract: | Objectives : This study examines the relationship between quality of life, depression and three aspects of health locus of control for people living in retirement villages. Method : A total of 101 people who are elderly living in a south Queensland city completed self‐report scales of life quality, depression, and health locus of control. Results and Conclusion : The results revealed that attributing control over one's health to powerful others can be linked with greater helplessness and depression which in turn is linked with lower perceptions of aspects of life quality. Depression was found to be a mediator between locus of health control and quality of life. |
