2-Ethylhydracrylic acid has been identified as a significant component in the organic acid fraction of normal human urine. Its excretion is increased after an isoleucine load in a normal subject and was elevated in the urine of a child with an apparent inborn error of metabolism of isoleucine at the 3-ketoacyl thiolase step. |
