| Abstract: | A rat monoclonal antibody, named LO-CD6a, was produced by fusion of rat non-secreting immunocytoma cell line IR983F with splenocytes of a LOU rat immunized with T cell line HPB-ALL cells. LO-CD6a was found to react with T lymphocytes in blood, tonsil and thymus and no reaction was found between LO-CD6a and non-T cells or non-T cell lines. It was defined as a protein with two polypeptides of 102 Kd and 135Kd on normal T lymphocytes and a protein of 129 Kd on HPB-ALL cells. Furtthermore, the binding of OKT_(12) to T lym(?)hocytes could be inhibited if T lymphocytes were preincubated with LO-CD6a, indicating that LO-CD6a can recognize the same epitop on the same antigen. |
