Blood pressure variability(BPV)is one of the physiological features of blood pressure.Blood pressure variability contains the important message of autonomic nervous systemin cardiovascular regulation.Evidences show close relationship between blood pressure variability and target organ damage.Reducing blood pressure variability can bring reduction of cardiovascular morbility and mortality.Blood pressure variability can be used as one of the predictors of cardiovascular death,which has wide clinical application value and study future in the prevention and treatment of hypertension and its application.Here is to summarize the research progress in the definition,clinical significance and the application of blood pressure variability.
