Epidemiological Characteristics of Vitiligo:an Analysis of 402 Cases

Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of patients with vitiligo,and to provide scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of the disease.Methods A total of 402 patients initially diagnosed with vitiligo were selected for epidemiological investigation.ResultsAmong the 402 patients with vitiligo,217(54%)were males and 185(46%)were females.The average onset age and disease course were(25.95±18.27)years old and(2.19±4.26)years,respectively.There was no significant difference in the occurrence and onset age between males and females(P>0.05).The patients with the first onset between 10 and 19 years of age accounted for 26.4%(106/402).Most of the patients(90%,362/402)had non-segmental vitiligo,which mainly occurred in the face(50%).Conclusion The occurrence and onset age of vitiligo are not associated with gender.Non-segmental vitiligo is the main type of vitiligo.It mainly occurs in the face and tends to occur in patients aged 10-19 years.
