Analysis of the Experience of the Zhejiang School of Traditional Chinese Medicine Master XU Rongzhai in Treating Leukorrheal Disease

[Objective] To study the clinical experience of Mr. XU Rongzhai,a master of Zhejiang school of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) in treating leukorrheal disease. [Methods]Through studying the works of Mr. XU Rongzhai and related literature,collecting medical records,Mr. XU Rongzhai’s understanding of leukorrheal disease was analyzed and his experience in syndrome differentiation and treatment was summarized,one typical case was analyzed to support. [Results]Mr. XU believed that the leukorrheal disease was due to dampness,which was closely related to dysfunction of the spleen,liver and kidney. He emphasized that this disease should be differentiated and treated from the five viscera combined with the four diagnostic methods.The"five colors of leukorrhea"was often used as the guideline,which was divided into deficiency and excess syndromes according to the color,texture,and smell. The deficiency syndromes were mostly caused by the deficiency of the five viscera and inability to fix belt channel;the excess syndromes were caused by liver heat,downward flow of damp and heat,or exogenous dampness. Secondly,the liver and spleen should be the main points in syndrome differentiation and treatment,to supplement the extra meridians by drugs with affinity to flesh and blood,combined with wind-expelling drug,and adopted internal treatment with external treatment. The patient suffered leukorrheal disease of spleen deficiency and dampness stagnation,and achieved good clinical effects after treated with Wandai decoction,combined with lifting and astringent to invigorate the spleen and replenish Qi,promote Yang and resolve dampness.[Conclusion] Mr. XU Rongzhai treated leukorrheal disease based on the guiding principle of "five colors of leukorrhea",and made careful and detailed analysis. He paid attention to the application of drugs with affinity to flesh and blood,wind-expelling and external drugs. His experience is quite characteristic and worthy of clinical reference.
