Clinical Study on the Effects of Olanzapine Combining Lithium Carbanate in the Treatment of Patients with Bipolar I Disorder

Objective：To observe the efficacies and safety of olanzapine combining lithium carbanate in the treatment of patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder.Method：Totally 84 patients with bipolar disorder of type I were randomly divided into two groups,each with 42 cases.The study group was treated with olanzapine combining lithium carbanate and the control one only with lithium carbanate for 8 weeks’ observation.All the subjects were rated the Bech-Rafaelsen Mania Rating Scale（BRMS） before treatment and after 1,2,4,8 weeks’ treatment.The Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale（TESS） was rated to measure safety at the end of 1st and 8th week of treatment.Then,the data were compared between the two groups.Result：The total scores of BRMS in two groups showed significantly lower after treatment than before（P〈0.01）.The total scores of BRMS after one week’s treatment in the study group showed significantly lower than that in the control（p〈0.05）.But,after 8weeks’ treatment,the BRMS total scores appeared no significant difference between the two groups（P〉0.05）.After one week’s treatment,the incidence of side-effects showed significantly lower in the study group（19.1%） than that in the control group（40.5%）（P〈0.05）.The total scores of TESS in the study group（7.4±3.5） also showed significantly lower than that in the control one（9.3±4.7）（P〈0.05）.Conclusion：It shows earlier efficacies and less side-effects of olanzapine combining lithium carbanate to treat patients with bipolar Ⅰ disorder.
