Effect of Modified Baitouweng Decoction and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction on Symptom Relief and Intestinal Mucosal Barrier Function in Patients with Ulcerative Colitis

Objective To observe the effects of modified Baitouweng Decoction and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction on symptom relief and intestinal mucosal barrier function in patients with ulcerative colitis.Methods A total of 86 patients with ulcerative colitis who were admitted to the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine in our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into two groups according to the order of admission.43 cases in the control group were treated with conventional Western medicine,and 43 cases in the treatment group were treated with Baitouweng Decoction and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction on the basis of the control group.Both groups were treated continuously for 4 weeks.After treatment,the efficacy of the two groups was statistically compared,and the Sutherland disease activity index(DAI),intestinal mucosal conditions,colonic histopathological conditions,and changes in intestinal mucosal barrier function indexes before and after treatment were detected and compared to evaluate the safety of the treatment plan.Results After treatment,the clinical effective rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group(χ²=5.460,P=0.019);The scores of diarrhea,hematochezia,mucosal manifestations and physician evaluation of disease,colonoscopy,colonic tissue pathology,and the serum levels of diamine oxidase,D-lactic acid,bacterial endotoxin in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no obvious adverse reactions in the two groups during the treatment.Conclusion The application of modified Baitouweng Decoction and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction can improve the mucosal and histopathological conditions of patients with ulcerative colitis,improve the barrier function of intestinal mucosa,which help to alleviate clinical symptoms and promote the prognosis of the disease.
