Abstract:
Effects of intracellular application of CsClon action potential duration and contraction were investi-gated in isolated guineapig ventricular cells. CsCl caused aprolongation in action potential duration after it was injectedinto the cells and simultaneously decreased contraction. In thepresence ofcompound Ⅱ, which is a highly specific delayed re-ctifier K+ channel blocker, the change caused by CsCl in ac-tion potentials, but not in contraction, was abolished. In thepresence of ryanodine which blocks the Ca2+ release channelsin sarcoplasmic reticulum, CsCl did not show any effect oncontraction. These results suggested that blocking sarcoplasmicreticulum K+ channels by CsCl could reduce the Ca2+ releasefrom the sarcoplasmic reticulum.
