| Abstract: | Objective: To evalute the difference of the levels of Interleukin-17(IL-17) in allergic asthmatics as compared with healthy controls and in different disease severity.Methods: The levels of IL-17 in plasma and supernatants of cultured peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,and their relations to disease severity were also studied.Results: The levels of IL-17 in plasma and supernatants of PBMCs were higher in allergic asthmatics than those in healthy controls(P<0.05).Moreover,the levels of IL-17 in plasma were increased along with the increasing degree of disease severity.Conclusion: IL-17 may play roles in the development of allergic asthma.The levels of IL-17 in plasma may be a marker for the severity of asthma. |
