Abstract: | The presence of abnormal levels of autoantibodies to intracellular antigens is a hallmark of systemic connective tissue disease. The indirect immunofluorescence assay is the most commonly used routine test for the detection of antinuclear antibodies. In this text, several representative patterns of fluorescence are reviewed and some pitfalls for application of the results to the clinical field are mentioned. |
