Primary lung squamous cell carcinoma ileocecal metastasis: one case report and literature review

Objective To improve the understanding of gastrointestinal metastasis of primary lung cancer. Methods A case with primary lung cancer metastasized to ileocecus was reported and related literatures were reviewed. Results The 56 years old male patient with sudden right lower bellyache,cough, sputum and skull mass was admitted as acute abdominal disease. Ileocecal squamous cell cancer and carcinomatous perforation were confirmed by surgery. The patient was diagnosed as squamous cell lung cancer by bronchus biopsy, and had multiple metastases in other organs. Conclusions Gastrointestinal metastasis unusually occurs in primary lung cancer. It is difficult to diagnose and the prognosis is poor.HE stainning combining with immunohistochemistry index, such as TTF-1 、CK7、CK20, is helpful for the distinguish of the cancer source from lung or gastrointestinal tract.
