Abstract: | The magnetic resonance (MR) findings of three children with severe neonatal jaundice who were suspected to be suffering from kernicterus were examined. In all children high intensity areas in the globus pallidus were demonstrated bilaterally on T2-weighted imaging. The posteromedial border of the globus pallidus was shown to be the most sensitive area to kernicterus by MR findings.
