Analysis of Physical Examination Results of Elderly People Aged 65 and over in a Community in Wuhan

Objective To analyze the physical examination results of the elderly people in one community,and to provide a theoretical basis for prevention of diseases in the elderly.Methods Health checkups were performed on 209 people aged over 65 years old in a community of Wuhan,and the results of the physical examinations were analyzed using chi-square tests.Results The top five diseases detected were hypertension(72.73%),hyperlipidemia(62.20%),abdominal B-ultrasonography abnormalities(62.20%),overweight and obesity(51.67%),and electrocardiographic abnormalities(45.45%).The detection rate of hyperlipidemia in women was higher than that in men,while the detection rate of abnormal bone density was opposite.The detection rate of abdominal B-ultrasonography abnormalities,liver dysfunction and hypertension increased among those who were overweight and obese.The rate of electrocardiographic abnormalities and liver dysfunction was higher in people with the history of hypertension,but it was the opposite for the rate of hyperlipidemia.Conclusion Community hospitals should focus on diseases with high detection rates of the elderly in the community,and carry out targeted health education and follow-up work for different populations to improve the health of the elderly in the community and the quality of community health ser-vices.
