| Abstract: | The advantages and disadvantages for the diagnosis by echocardiographic figures, X-ray film and angiogram of 25 cases with endocardial cushion defect(ECD) confirmed by open-heart surgery were analyzed. It was found that chest X-ray film gave suggestive diagnosis for most of the patients, but angiography could not only provide accurate diagnosis, but also confirm the associated lesions and measure cardiovascular pressure despite of its invasive disadvantage. Echocardiography could provide accurate information about the anatomy, type of ECD, associated lesions, and the hemodynamics. Echocardiography is the method of choice for the diagnosis of ECD to replace angiography. |
