Progress of epidenmiology and clinical treatment on enterohaemolytic Escherichia coli

Enterohaemolytic Escherichia coli(EHEC) is a serious cause of bloody diarrhoea.This bacteria is notable because of a few number of infected people develop the haemolytic uraemic syndrome,which is the most frequently cause of acute renal failure in children in the US and Europe.Most of the EHEC infection could be prevented,which is especially important because once an infection has been assured,no therapeutic interventions are available to reduce the risk of developing the haemolytic uraemic syndrome.In this article,the epidemiology of EHEC,the diagnosis and management of infection and their complications,the repercussions of infection including costs,and prevention are reviewed.
