Helicobacter pylori infection situation in chronic hepatitis B and hepatic cirrhosis patients

Objective To study Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection situation in chronic hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis patients.Methods 1109 outpatients or inpatients who were examined by gastroscopy in our hospital between September 2008 and August 2010 were selected.All the patients were divided into 3 groups:chronic hepatitis B patients (552 cases),liver cirrhosis patients (344 cases) and general patients (213 cases).Hp infection rates in 3 groups were analyzed and compared.Results There were 50,137 and 98 cases of Hp positive in general patients,chronic hepatitis B and liver cirrhosis patients respectively.The rate of Hp infection in three groups were 23.5％,24.8％ and 28.5％ respectively.There were no statistical differences among the three groups( x2 =2.17,P ＞ 0.05).The rate of Hp infection in mild,moderate and severe hepatic cirrhotic portal hypertension were 34.2％(53/155),23.7％(23/97) and 23.9％(22/92) respectively,and there were no statistical differences( x2 =4.46,P ＞ 0.05).Conclusions Hp infection rate in chronic hepatitis B patients and liver cirrhosis patients were similar to general patients.Hp infection has no effect on hepatic cirrhotic portal hypertension.
