| Abstract: | Lipid peroxide (LPO) levels in gastric mucosa of 66 cases were measured.LPO levels of gastric mucosa in superficial gastritis,erosive gastritis and gastric ulcer were elevated as compared with that of normal gastric mucosa,but not related with the gravity of gastric mucosa damage.It was also found that the LPO level in gastric cancer was increased over that of normal tissue,but there was no significant difference from other gastric lesions mentioned above.The result suggests that LPO may play a role in the process of gastric mucosal injury,and the LPO level in gastric mucosa may serve as a marker of damaged gastric mucosa in either benign or malignant gastric disease. |
