“六气皆从火化”非“六气皆能化火”

"六气皆从火化"与"六气皆能化火"都是后人根据刘完素《素问玄机原病式.六气为病》概括出来的中医术语,都强调"火热病机"。二者都认为六气之间存在着转化性,而且以化生"火热"为主。"六气皆从火化"一语,既包涵"六气化火",也包涵"火化六气",还包涵"六气互化",基本符合刘完素的本意。而"六气皆能化火",仅仅强调"六气化火"一个方面,虽然突出了火热病机的重要性,但却有失刘完素的本意。二者涵义显然不同,不可混为一谈。所谓"化"者,都应是病机(理)传(转)化,而不是病因传(转)化。病机或病理产物则常会随病程的发展、病人体质的差异、治疗用药的寒热补泻、护理措施的当否等因素而发生性质的转化。其中病人的体质是影响病机(理)转化的关键因素。

"Six exogenous pathogenic factors transfer form fire" and "six exogenous pathogenic factors will turn into fire" emphasizes "fire-heat pathogenesis",which are generalized according to diseases caused by six exogenous pathogenic factors in SuWen XuanJi YuanBingShi(etiology based on plain questions)of LIU Wan-su.The viewpoints above hold that transformation between six exogenous pathogenic factors rely mainly on fire-heat."Six exogenous pathogenic factors transfer form fire",which is the original intention of LIU Wan-su,consists of not only "six exogenous pathogenic factors will turn into fire",but also "fire transforms into six exogenous pathogenic factors" and "transformation between six exogenous pathogenic factors"."six exogenous pathogenic factors will turn into fire" only accentuates the importance of fire-heat pathogenesis,but it is not the original intention of LIU Wan-su."Six exogenous pathogenic factors transfer form fire" and "six exogenous pathogenic factors will turn into fire" should not be confounded with each other,because they are two distinct viewpoints.So-called "Hua" means transformation of pathogenesis,not the transformation of etiology.The transformation of pathogenesis or pathological substances often complies with variations of course of disease,body constitution,treatment,nursing care.But body constitution is the key factor of transformation of pathogenesis.
