Abstract:
Objective: To investigate the values of magnetic resonance diffusionweighted imaging (DWI) in the diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma. Materials and Methods: This study included 23 cases with pancreatic carcinoma, 26 cases with acute pancreatitis and 25 normal subjects. All patients were examined with traditional and DWI MR sequences. The signal intensity ratio (SIR) of tumor tissues, the tissues adjacent to the tumor on T1WI, T2WI and DWI were analyzed. The ADC values of the pancreatic carcinoma tissues, the pancreatic tissues adjacent to the tumor, the acute panereatitis tissues and the normal pancreas tissues of control subjects were measured respectively and analyzed. Results: The SIR on DWI was higher than that of on T1WI and T2WI. The ADC values of tumor were significant lower than that of pancreatic tissues adjacent to the tumor, the acute pancreatitis tissues and normal pancreatic tissues, there was significant difference in ADC value (P〈0.05). Conclusion: DWI can show the tumor tissues clearly and provide useful information for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of pancreatic carcinoma.
