Study of palliative reverse care on patients with cancer at the end of life

Objective To explore the value of reverse care in the palliative care to cancer patients at the end of life.Methods From March 2018 to March 2020,60 patients at end of life in a nursing home in a certain city were selected and divided into a control group and a trial group,with 30 cases in each group.The patients in the control group received routine care,and the patients in the trial group were treated with reverse care intervention:the patients performed care and comfort activities for their relatives,friends,colleagues,and care-givers for 1 month.The two groups were compared in terms of emotion,coping style and hope level of the patients as well as the reverse caring attitude of their families.Results The scores of emotion and coping style in the trial group were significantly lower,and the score of hope level was significantly higher than those of the control group(all P<0.05).Except for the items such as dealing with visiting time,long-term care that makes patients frustrated,and the patients and their families jointly carrying out end-of-life education,there were significant differences between the scores of other items and the total score of the family members of the patients in the trial group(all P<0.05).Conclusions The reverse care can improve the emotions of patients at the end of life,help them to adopt more active coping styles and raise the level of hope.It can positively affect the reverse care attitude of their families and serve as a new approach to hospice and palliative.
