Observation on the curative effect of modified Wuling Powder on senile hemorrhoids complicated with chronic transit constipation

Objective It is to observe the clinical efficacy of modified Wuling Powder in the treatment of senile hemorrhoids with chronic transit constipation.Methods A total of 118 elderly patients with hemorrhoids and chronic transit constipation(slow transit costipation,STC)admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine from May 2017 to August 2019 were selected into this study,and were randomly divided into a routine group and a study group according to the simple random digital table.The routine group was treated with routine therapy,and the study group was treated with modified Wuling Powder based on the routine group.After 3 weeks of treatment,the changes in colonic transit function,constipation symptom score,hemorrhoid diameter,and quality of life of the patients in the two groups were observed,the clinical curative effects were evaluated and the incidence of adverse reactions during the treatment were counted in the two groups.Results After treatment,the results of colonic transit function test,CSS score,and hemorrhoid diameter of the two groups were all decreased compared with those before treatment,and the study group was lower than the routine group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of PAC-QOL dimensions of the two groups were lower than those before treatment,and the study group was lower than the routine group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total effective rate of the study group was 91.53%(54/59),the cure rate was 64.41%(38/59),those in the routine group respectively were 77.97%(46/59),47.46%(2/59),the clinical efficacy in the study group was better than that of the conventional group(P<0.05).There was no obvious side effect occurred during the treatment period.Conclusion Wuling Powder has a good effect in the treatment of elderly hemorrhoids complicated with chronic transit constipation.It can effectively improve the colonic transit function of patients,and can reduce the hemorrhoids within a certain range to prevent the progression of hemorrhoids,thereby comprehensively improving the quality of life of patients.
