Prostaglandin E (PGE) including endogenouscytoprotcction PGE induccd by 20To ethanolcan protect gastric mucosa, indicating that a way ofpreventing ulcer caused by drugs has been found. Anin:rease of PGE has been observed in the gastric mu-cosa of patients with chronic atrophic gastritis andsuperficial gastritis. The PGE content of the intestinal mucosa in bowel inflammatory disease (BID)is significantly higher than that in colitis, irritablecolon syndome and normal subjects, this finding maybc of help in diagnosis and differential diagnosis ofBID, especially Crohn's disease and may contributeco the understanding of the pathophysiology of thec~iseasc anci the mechanism of sulphasaIazine, predni-solonc and Chincse medicinal herbs in inhibitingPGE bicsynthesis. |
