The Observation of Serum Zinc and Copper in Rabbits with Immune Complex Nephritis in Situ

Serum sickness nephritis was induced in seven New Zealand white rabbits by daily 25mg intravenous injections of cationic bovine serum albumin (C-BSA.), The concentration of zine, copper, urea nitrogen, creatinine and albumin in the serum or plasma were de ected, and the urinary albumin was analyzed quantitatively by second, sixth and eighth week respecttively after starting injection of C-BSA. The results showed that the serum concentration of zine significantly decreased, being paralled with the plasma level of albumin, meanwhile, it was correlated negatvely with the urinary alumin in the sixth and eight week. On the other hand, the serum concentration of copper did not show any correlation to the plasma level of albumin or urinary albumin. Our experiment sugger te that a loss of massive urinary albumin result in a reduction of both plasma albumin and serum zine, but it does not remarkably induce the change of serum copper in the course of nephritis.
