Using international children's literature in the content areas

Abstract:
This article presents ways in which the development of children's language arts skills, cognitive knowledge and emotional growth are fostered through the use of international children's literature to teach a content area. A unit of study is described, including activities and books that might be used as children do a study of nocturnal animals.
