Gastric Emptying Function Observed by Real-time Ultrasonography in Patients with Hepatic Cirrhosis

Objective To discuss the value of real-time ultrasonography in observing the gastric emptying function in patients with hepatic cirrhosis.Methods The real-time ultrasonography measurements of the gastric antral area and the transitional area between gastric corpus and the fundus were performed in 20 patients with hepatic cirrhosis（hepatic cirrhosis group）and 20 healthy controls（healthy control group）.The time of gastric emptying for 50%,80% and 100% in both groups were compared.Results Gastric emptying time measured by the two methods in both groups showed no significant differences（P0.05）;50%,80% and 100% emptying time in hepatic cirrhosis group was longer than that in the healthy control group（P0.05,P0.01）.Conclusion Patients with hepatic cirrhosis may have gastric emptying disorder,which can be clearly observed by real-time ultrasonography.
