| Abstract: | Some genes such as those for histones and RNAs are conserved unchanged through much of evolution and have numerous tandem repeat copies in the genome. It is proposed that as yet undetected 'polystrand' enzymes use such multiple copies as a means of conserving their sequence by comparing the copies and eliminating errors. |
