Observe the clinical efficacy of escitalopram in the treatment of senile depression

Objective To explore the effect of escitalopram in the treatment of senile depression. Methods A total of 118 senile depression patients admitted to our hospital from May 2018 to March 2020 were selected and divided into the reference group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 59 cases in each group. The reference group was treated with venlafaxine and the observation group was treated with escitalopram. The clinical efficacy, SF-36 score after treatment and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total clinical effective rate was 93.22% in the observation group and 91.53% in the reference group, and the difference was not statistically significant. After treatment, there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of MH, RE, SF, VT, GH, BP, RP, PF between the two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was lower than that in the reference group, and the differences was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion The application of escitalopram in senile depression patients can improve the clinical efficacy and the quality of life of patients, and the drug is safer, and it is worthy of clinical application.
