Analysis of short-term efficacy and adverse reactions of VMAT external beam irradiation combined with three-dimensional intracavitary afterloading treatment for cervical cancer

Objective To analyze the short-term efficacy and adverse reactions of VMAT external beam irradiation combined with three-dimensional intracavitary afterloading treatment for cervical cancer. Methods A total of 70 patients with cervical cancer admitted to our hospital from December 2019 to April 2020 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into two groups according to the random number table method,with 35 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with VMAT external beam irradiation combined with two-dimensional intracavity afterloading treatment, and patients in the observation group were treated with VMAT external beam irradiation combined with three-dimensional intracavitary afterloading treatment. The short-term efficacy, radio-chemotherapy-related indicators and adverse reactions, the local recurrence rate and distant metastasis rate were compared between the two groups. Results The clinical improvement rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the incidence of adverse reactions was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);the local recurrence rate and distant metastasis rate of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05);the GTVnd, CTV, PTV and PGTVnd in the observation group were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion VMAT external beam irradiation combined with three-dimensional intracavitary afterloading has significant short-term curative effect and high safety in the treatment of cervical cancer. It is worthy of clinical application.
