Effect of combined mifepristone and surgery on pelvic endometriosis

Objective; To observe the effect of combined mifepristone and surgery on pelvic endo- metriosis. Methods： A total of 57 cases with pelvic endometriosis were randomly divided into two groups, 30 cases in observation group were treated by mifepristone for 3 months from the 3rd day after surgery, one time per day, 12.5 mg per time. While patients in control group didnlt have mifepristone. The effect was observed and compared, Results： The follow up for 3-12 months showed remission rate in observation group （53.3%） was significantly higher than that in control group （48. 1%） （P〈0.05）, and the recurrence rate in observation group was significantly lower （10.0% vs. 18.5%）（P〈0.05）. The incidence of side effect was 10.0% in observation group. Conclusions： Combined mifepristone and surgery is more effective on pelvic endometriosis than single surgery. Mifepristone is of little side effect and cheap. And it can be satisfactory option for treatment of pelvic endometriosis.
