Abstract: | Fetal goiter can be the result of maternal hyperthyroidism treated with antithyroid drugs. Polyhydramnios may be the presenting symptom and can be diagnosed prenatally by sonography. We report a case of fetal goiter diagnosed at 30 weeks of gestation and fetal hypothyroidism confirmed by cordocentesis. Intra‐amniotic levothyroxine was administered. Onset of preterm labor could not be prevented. The risks and benefits of intrauterine treatment of fetal goitrous hypothyroidism are discussed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
