Microsurgical repair of scalp defects

This is a review of reports of the reconstruction of scalp defects with free flaps. Most of these studies present only a small number of cases, or a mix of scalp reconstructions with free and local flaps. The goal of this review is a “meta” analysis of free flaps for scalp reconstructions. Age, sex distribution, time of reconstruction, causes of scalp defects, donor site choice, vessels used for micro-anastomosing, and complications are reviewed and discussed.
