Research on relationship between bronchial asthma and RSV bronchiolitis Yuc

A follow-up survey was made on 59 patients 2 to 11 years after their recovery from respiratory syncytial virus(RSV )broiichiolitis ,the result of which was compared with 34 patients with non-RSV bronchiolitis,33 patients with bronchial asthma(asthma) ,and 24 normal children.A close examination of medical history ,somatoscopy,chest rediograph ,pulmonary function ,allergic skin tests,LTT, and blood rheology tests revealed that the incidence of asthma, subsequent to RSV bron- chiolitis ,was 48%,considerably higher than that of asthma subsequent to non-RSV bronchiolitis(15%),and that the incidence of RSV bronchiolitis developing asthn1a for an infant with a personal or(and)family history of allergy was much higher than that for an infant without a persional or(and)family history of allergy.Patients with secondary asthrna had lower cellular immune function and more intense blood viscosity than those without secondary asthma;therefore ,proper adjustment should be applied to prophylaxis and treatmeiit.
