The possible role of protein degradation in altered membrane structure and function

Possible changes in membrane lipid assemetry may result in altered function with aging. Membrane proteolysis is an additional factor which must be considered, both with respect to modulation of membrane function and also as a methodological problem in analyses of membrane dynamics.
