Abstract: | Delta sleep-inducing peptide is shown to alter properties of malate dehydrogenase in brain mitochondria. The regulatory activity of the peptide is manifested in stabilization of catalytic properties of the enzyme at a higher level, which prevents their change during hypoxic stress. Regulation of malate dehydrogenase is presumed to occur through direct action of the peptide on mitochondrial membranes.
