Abstract: | Objective:To studythechangesof plasmalevelsof carbonmonoxide(CO)andnitricoxide(NO)in asphyxial neonates.Methods:PlasmaCO andNO levelsof33perinatalasphyxialneonatesand30healthynewborninfantswere measured.Results:TheplasmaCOandNOlevelswerecloselycorrelatedto theoccurrenceandclinicalseverityof hypoxic-ischemicencephalopathy(HIE).TheperinatalasphyxialpatientswithHIEhadsignificantlyhigherCO andNO levelsthan thosewithoutHIEandthenormalcontrols(P<0.05,respectively),andtherewas no significantdifferenceof CO andNO levelsbetweentheperinatalasphyxialnewborninfantswithoutHIEandthenormalcontrols(P>0.05).Moreover,inthe caseswithHIE,theCO andNO levelswerecorrelatedto theseverityof clinicalmanifestations,thatis,thehighertheCO andNOlevels,themoreseveretheclinicalmanifestationsare(P<0.05).Conclusion:Inadditionto NO,CO is anotheren-dogenousmediatorwhichplaysan importantroleintheoccurrenceof HIEinperinatalasphyxialneonates. |
