Abstract:Objective To discuss the value of cerebral diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) with 3.0T MRI in the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment(MCI).Methods Fifty cases of MCI mean age 74.5±4.8 years were included.The control group included 30 cases mean age 72.5±5.2 years.MRI was performed with a Siemens 3.0T scanner including routine brain MRI,hippocampus scan and DTI.The morphological changes between the two groups were compared on routine images.FA and DCavg values were obtained via 18 ROIs in bilateral cerebral hemispheres.Reconstruction of white matter tracts was performed by DTI.Results No significant difference is seen on routine images between the two groups(P0.05).The values of FA and DCavg showed significant difference between the two groups(P0.05).The MCI group showed decreased FA and increased DCavg.The white matter tracts in MCI group were less compact and showed decreased integrity comparing with the normal controls.There was negative correlation of the degree of MCI with the MMSE scores(r =-0.396,P0.05).Conclusion DTI with 3.0T MRI provides very valuable information in the clinical assessment of MCI.
