| Abstract: | Objective The expression of eIF4E was studied by detecting their expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma(LSCC).Methods An immunohistochemical analysis with antibody to eIF4E was performed on 52 specimens of the LSCC,20 specimens of dysplasia,30 specimens of hyperplasia and 10 specimens of normal mucosa;Western-blot analysis was performed on tumor core,transition core and "tumor-free" core of 20 specimens of fresh LSCC using anti-eIF4E antiserum.Results All 52 patients(100%)of the LSCC overexpressed eIF4E.It was remarkably higher than that in the control group.The expression of eIF4E protein level from "tumor-free" core,transition core and tumor core of LSCC appeared progressive overexpression.Conclusion Overexpression of eIF4E may be a molecular marker of malignant transformation and progression in LSCC. |
