Diagnosis and treatment of congenital hypothyroidism in children.

Congenital hypothyroidism(CH)is a congenital disease caused by insufficient production of thyroid hormone or its receptor deficiency.Primary congenital hypothyroidism is the most common type of congenital hypothyroidism.Clinical experience shows that thyroid hormone replacement therapy within a few weeks after birth can prevent or significantly reduce the neuropsychiatric abnormalities caused by congenital hypothyroidism.Therefore,it is necessary to establish a simple and feasible method to screen all newborns,so as to achieve rapid diagnosis and early treatment after birth.In 2006,our country carried out free screening of neonatal congenital hypothyroidism,and took corresponding measures according to different concentrations of TSH at screening.Levothyroxine tablets(L-T4)are the first choice for treatment.Drug treatment should be started within 2 weeks after birth or immediately after confirmed serological diagnosis.At present,the timeliness of diagnosis of congenital hypothyroidism has been significantly improved in China,but it is still necessary to carry out publicity and education on the treatment for congenital hypothyroidism.
