The clinicopathologic features of ten cases of primary malignant melanoma of vagina and cervix are described. Seven of the tumors are located ia vagina, three of them in cervix. Microscopically, the histologic features of the tumors resemble the malignant melanoma of the skin and other mucosa. Melanin is demonstrated in ten cases. S-100 protein has been known present in all cases. The electron microscopic examination of two cases reveal melanosomes in the tumor cells. The results support the diagnosis of primary malignant melanoma. The differential diagnosis is discussed |
