According to HIMSS Analytics ＇ s EMR Adoption Model, till now only 1 percent of nospitals nave achieved Stage 7 top level capabilities. Among them, ENH （Evanston Northwestern Healthcare） became one of only a handful of healthcare organizations using a completely electronic, fully integrated health record and hospital information system that is built around the patient rather than provider. The key feature of the system is its ability to function as a comprehensive, state-of-the-art suite of software products that work together in a unified fashion. The achievement is evidenced by using the system can greatly eliminates paper charts and replaces them with a single, secure, electronic medical record that is updated in real time, and thus reduces miscommunication, redundant tests and human error. Overall, the system is a tremendous success. It came from ENH＇s approach to management of the project, and benefit by a series of the thoughtful consideration and successful measure at the planning, designing, developing, testing, implement, and deployment phases.
