The diagnosis of an ectopic spleen can be made sonographically by recognizing the characteristic parenchymal texture and shape of the spleen. Evaluation of the left upper quadrant is necessary to confirm the diagnosis or to diagnose a mass displacing a normal spleen. A rare case of an ectopic spleen in a child with chronic torsion is presented. |
