Effect of low-dose methylprednisolone in adjuvant treatment of children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia and its influence on pulmonary function

Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of low dose methylprednisolone in the treatment of severe mycoplasma pneumonia and to evaluate its effect on lung function,inflammatory factors and immune function.Methods 112 children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia were randomly selected in The Third People′s Hospital of Baoji from July 2019 to July 2020 and divided into two groups with random number table method,56 cases in the control group were given routine treatment,56 cases in the observation group were treated with low-dose methylprednisolone on the basis of conventional treatment.The clinical symptoms disappeared time,treatment effect,lung function index,serum inflammatory index and immune function index were compared between the two groups.Results Compared with the control group,the observation group had significant differences in the disappearance time of high fever(5.12±1.64)d,the disappearance time of cough (7.48±3.02) d,and the disappearance time of abnormal lung noise(10.25±3.14)d (P<0.05).The effective rate of the observation group was 96.4%,which was significantly different from that of the control group (P<0.05).FVC of observation group was (1.85±0.67) L at discharge,FEV1 was(1.85±0.67) L,PEF was (3.52±1.53) L/s CRP in observation group were (9.25±1.12) mg/L at discharge,TNF-α was(0.77±0.34) ng/L.At discharge,the CD4+ and CD8+ of the observation group were (42.17±5.33)%,and (28.26±3.17)%respectively,which were significantly different from those of the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion The adjuvant therapy of low-dose methylprednisolone has a significant effect in the treatment of children with severe mycoplasma pneumonia,which can improve the lung function of the children,reduce the body′s inflammation,increase the immune function,and improve the prognosis.
