| Abstract: | The influence of zinc on lead humoral immunotoxicity was studied. In mice, BALB/C mice were exposed to lead (as lead acetate) and/or zinc (as zinc acetate)in their drinking water for 12 weeks. The results demonstrate that the combined administration of zinc and lead effectively prevents the lead-induced inhibition of body weight gain and decreases the lead concentration in the liver and blood, whereas the lead concentration decreases in the kidney. The results also indicate that lead suppresses the production of anti-sheep red blood cell IgM antibody, but the inhibitory effect of 4.8mmol/L dose of lead on production of antisheep red blood cell IgM antibody was significantly reversed by 15.2mmol/L dose of zinc. |
