AN EPIDEMIOLOGICAL INVESTIGAION OF TUBERCULOSIS IN SOME COMMAND

ABSTRACT To investigate the present epidemic situation of tuberculosis in the army and to evaluate the effects of control measures as to provide a basis for making a new project of tuberculosis control. Methods: The investigation was carried out in 10 units selected at random in the command by PPD test, x-rays examination, sputum examination and PCR.Results:The active morbidity rate, the morbidity rate of bateria-positive and the morbidity rate of smear-positive were 176.66,33.12,22.05 per hudred thousand respectively in the command. Compared with the results of the survey in 1980, the active morbidity rate decreased by 32.05%, annual average decreasing rate was 2.17%, which was below the decreasing rate for whole coumtry(2.80%). There were clear differences on morbidity and infection rates among different units and differnt populations, but the trends are the same.Conclusion: The present measures seemed to be not suitable enough to the demands for tuberculosis preventon. New control measures for tuberculosis should be worked out quickly.
