Abstract:Objective: To observe the effect of eucommia on the early biochemical blood indexes of closed fracture in SD rat, to probe the healing mechanism and role of eueommia on the early closed fracture of broken bones in SD rat. Methods: 168 rats were randomly divided with the double blind method into 7 fracture groups of time-points: 1 d, 2 d, 3 d, 5 d, 7 d, 14 d and 21 d. Each time-point group was half divided into eucommia and saline groups respectively, and they were respectively given gastric perfusion of eucommia solution and saline. The concentrations of serum calcium (Ca^2+ ), pbosphate ions (HPO4^2- ) and activity levels of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in the aorta blood were determined respectively with Arsenazo II method, direct UV method and Kim ELISA. Results: (2) In the first week, two groups had different levels of Ca^2 + increase, which rose to the peak on the 7th day; on the 14th and 21^nd days, Ca^2+ of two groups gradually decreased, on the 21st day, it reached to the low-peak.(2)HPO4^2- in two groups one wee after the fracture showed different degrees of increaser but there was no statistic& significance (P 〉 0.05 ); in the 2^nd and 3^nd weeks, the difference between two groups was statistically significant (P 〈 0.05 ), the saline group reached peak on the 14th day, while the eucommia group reached the peak on 21^st day ; (3) The content of ALP in the two groups increased in varying degrees at 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd week, but there were no statistical significance (P 〉0.05) ; the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P 〈 0.05) on the 5^th, 7^th and 14^th days, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P 〈 0.05) on the 21^st day. Conclusion: Eucommia can reduce serum calcium, elevate phos- phate, promote the callus growth and fracture healing in the early stage.
