The Study of Histopathologic Diparity of Mice Infected With Plasmodium yoelli 17XL and Plasmodium yoelli 17XNL

Abstract:Objective To observe the histopathologic disparity of mice infected with Plasmodium yoelli 17XL and Plasmodium yoelli 17XNL.Methods Mice infected with P.y 17XL and P.y 17XNL by intraperitoneal were employed to investigate the parasitemia and survival rate,as well as infected effects on the anemia and body weight of mice.Six days post infection,brains and spleens were dissected from mice infected with P.yoelii 17XL and P.yoelii 17XNL after perfused and fixed,then were embedded in paraffin and cut in sections following stained with HE for microscopy of histomorphology.Results Mice infected with P.y 17XL were died due to severe anemia and significant body weight loss;The histomorphology study elucidated that infected red blood cells(IRBC)were sequestered in brain microvessels and splenomegaly was also observed in mice infected with P.y 17XL-infected mice.The boundary between white and red pulp was not discernible in the spleens of the P.y17XL-infected mice.Conclusion Mice infected with P.y17XL could be serve as a animal model for experiment cerebral malaria study.
