Indoor air concentrations of benzene and some other aromatic hydrocarbons

Using passive sampling and gas-chromatographic analysis, the concentration of benzene and some other aromatic hydrocarbons was determined inside and outside homes. With sampling periods from one to several days average indoor benzene concentrations below 20 μg/m³ were measured. The mean value for simultaneous sampling of outdoor air next to the dwellings investigated was found to be about 30 μg/m³.
