Abstract: | Summary The authors propose a conservative operation which can be considered to be a valid alternative to the quadrant resection for the treatment of carcinoma of the breast in the initial stage. The ideals which have gone into the creation of this technique regard the oncological criteria as well as the aesthetic requirements of the patient. The method, in fact, permits the removal of the suspected node, the serial control of the various lymph node stations in the axilla and the subpectoral areas and finally the subcutaneous adenomammectomy followed by an immediate reconstruction with a submuscular prosthesis, placed in a pocket created by the Pectoralis Major and Minor muscles, when the examinations performed on the frozen sections are negative. |
