Value of peripheral blood eosinophils in diagnosis and evaluation of bronchial asthma

Objective To explore the value of peripheral blood eosinophils(EOS)in the diagnosis and evaluation of bronchial asthma.Methods A total of 73 patients with bronchial asthma who were hospitalized from April 2019 to April 2020 were selected as observation group.According to the severity of the disease,the patients were further divided into mild group(35 cases),moderate group(27 cases)and severe group(11 cases);and 60 healthy people in the same period were selected as control group.The peripheral blood EOS,red blood cell distribution width(RDW),lipoxin A4(LXA4)level and exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO)concentration of the subjects in each group were detected.Results The EOS and RDW in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group,the level of LXA4 was significantly lower than that in the control group,the concentration of FeNO was significantly higher than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The EOS and RDW in the mild group were significantly lower than those in the moderate and severe groups,the level of LXA4 was significantly higher than that in the moderate and severe groups,the concentration of FeNO was significantly lower than that in the moderate and severe groups,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05);the EOS and RDW in the moderate group were significantly lower than those in the severe group,the level of LXA4 was significantly higher than that in the severe group,the concentration of FeNO was significantly lower than that in the severe group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with bronchial asthma have increased peripheral blood EOS,RDW,decreased LXA4 level and increased FeNO concentration,which were related to the severity of the disease.Peripheral blood EOS,RDW,LXA4 and FeNO can be used as indicators for the diagnosis of bronchial asthma,which is conducive to the assessment of the patient's condition and provides a reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
